The story of the brand
Centuries ago, this rugged, difficult mountainous area housed nests of bandits and political fugitives. Determined to resolve this situation, King Carlos III enacted a law declaring that whoever chose a plot of land in the Sierra Morena, cleared it and planted olive trees there would become its owner.
Many were attracted by the idea of having some land to call their own and they devoted themselves to this arduous task. But, money was short and they were forced to work not only on their own land, but also for others in exchange for subsistence wages. The only time they had to dedicate to their own backbreaking work was at night, which is why we named our product “Olivar de la Luna” (“Olive Grove of the Moon”) in honour of the efforts of those who gave us the chance to continue working and gathering the fruit of these trees.
